Enjoying the outdoors is a great thing, but we need to minimize the impact on our wilderness environments.  There are Seven Principles of Leave No Trace, put together by biologists and leaders in outdoor education. Each principle covers a specific topic to help minimize our impact and can be applied to almost anywhere, from remote wilderness areas to your own backyard. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

The Seven Leave No Trace Principles

  1. Plan ahead and prepare.

  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces.

  3. Dispose of waste properly.

  4. Leave what you find.

  5. Minimize campfire impacts (be careful with fire).

  6. Respect wildlife.

  7. Be considerate of other visitors.
